Students participate in outdoor education through participation in excursions and camps (depending on the year level) at various times during the year. All students are encouraged to be involved in these activities as they play an important part in their educational development. These activities are fully supervised by staff and qualified instructors and are designed to broaden knowledge and extend social development as well as to support particular curriculum areas. Students are expected to participate in outdoor education in full school checked uniform, unless otherwise indicated.
Parental approval
Where absence from the school grounds is required for the outdoor educational activity, parents will be advised and will need to sign a permission note agreeing to their child’s attendance. Where parental approval is not obtained the student will not be allowed to participate.
Cost contributions
Contributions to the cost of the excursion or camp and transport may form part of the permission note. Associated costs based on 2014 figures are as follows:
- Prep - $80
- Year 1 - $80
- Year 2 - $60
- Year 3 - $80
- Year 4 - $250
- Year 5 - $350
- Year 6 - $350
Unless otherwise stated, students are eligible for a refund (venue entry only) if they are unable to attend an activity for which they have paid. All requests for refunds must be made, in writing through the office, by the parent or carer. Forms are available.
At times families may be experiencing financial hardships, and the school is keen to ensure that this does not prevent students from participating in the activity. Please approach the principal who is keen to find a solution so that no student is disadvantaged.
Payment for activities
For most excursions/sports activities/general activities parents will receive an invoice. Payment must be made prior to the activity occurring to ensure your child can participate.
Preferred payment method is by BPOINT using address on foot of invoice, http://www.bpoint.com.au/payments/dete.
Payment can also be made at the office by cash or card. If sending payment with your child please include invoice and money in sealed named envelope.
QParent account holders can also pay through the QParents app.
Inappropriate behaviour
Inappropriate behaviour during any school activity may lead to a student being withdrawn from participating, sent home or withdrawn from future activities, at the discretion of the class teacher and the principal.
