Classroom Music
All students from Prep to Year 6 enjoy a 30-minute weekly music lesson. Using the Kodály approach, our Classroom Music Program puts singing at the heart of every lesson while developing skills in playing instruments, listening, music literacy, and fun music games. Students in Prep to Year 2 explore tuned and untuned percussion, while students in Year 3 to Year 6 also learn ukulele. Across all year levels, students are introduced to music from other cultures, including the music of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands, building a strong foundation for a lifelong love of music.
Whole School Singing
Singing together does more than create a lovely sound — it builds confidence, connection and wellbeing. When children sing in class or choir, they experience teamwork, emotional regulation and the simple joy of making music with others. For this reason, Eagle Junction State School values whole school singing and proudly takes part in events such as ANZAC Day, Harmony Day, NAIDOC Week and Together Sing.
Music Support Group
Meetings are held in Terms 2 and 3 and provide an opportunity for interested parents to support our wonderful Eagle Junction Music program. From year to year parental assistance is generally required in the following areas:
- Supervision at weekly choir rehearsals
- Supervision at band, strings and choir performances eg. Fanfare, QYMA, Singfest
- Organisation and assistance at the annual Soiree
